Most of us know that salt was very prized in Jesus' day, and that it was for adding flavor to food and used as a preservative. In fact, they used to line their ovens with salt. However, it is more important to know that salt was an important part of the Old Testament Covenant sacrifices (Leviticus). When Jesus told his disciples (that includes us) to be the salt of the earth, he was asking them to take God's covenant to the whole world.
We will discuss this more on Tuesday, along with the LIGHT, and brainstorm what our role in all this should be.
We will also continue our journey through Genesis, and tackle the next part of the Lord's Prayer.
